The Bucharest National Opera Orchestra, led by conductor Daniel Jinga, will perform, alongside soprano Oana Șerban, on Sunday, November 26, at 7:00 PM, in the Das MuTh concert hall in Vienna, on the occasion of Romania’s National Day. The program will mainly feature famous waltzes from the universal and Romanian repertoire, signed by Johann Strauss (son), Johann Strauss (father), Eduard Strauss, Richard Strauss, Fritz Kreisler, Iosif Ivanovici, Eugen Doga, George Grigoriu, Ciprian Porumbescu, and others.
The concert on November 26 opens a series of events dedicated to celebrating Romania’s National Day in the capital of Austria. On November 27, in the historic Vienna Stock Exchange Hall, located on the famous Ringstrasse boulevard, an ensemble from the Bucharest National Opera will perform, in the presence of hundreds of guests, the national anthems of Romania and Austria, as well as the famous waltzes “Waves of the Danube” (by Iosif Ivanovici) and “The Blue Danube” (by Johann Strauss).
Das MuTh is the most modern concert hall in Vienna. It was inaugurated in 2012 with an opening concert by the Vienna Philharmonic and the Vienna Boys’ Choir. Das MuTh serves as a meeting point for music and theater enthusiasts in Vienna. The famous Vienna Boys’ Choir is based here.
The event is organized by the Embassy of Romania in Austria in partnership with the Bucharest National Opera. In the opening of the concert, His Excellency Ambassador Emil Hurezeanu will deliver a speech dedicated to the common cultural values of Romania and Austria.
