The Bucharest National Opera is inviting all on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 4:00 PM to a new edition of the SCENA GÂNDIRII conference series, focusing on “The Art of Conducting – Freedom and Necessity.” This special event will feature Cristian Mandeal, one of Romania’s most renowned conductors, and Daniel Jinga, General Director of the Bucharest National Opera.
Moderated by Daniel Nica, coordinator of the SCENA GÂNDIRII program, the discussion will delve into the depths and paradoxes of the conductor’s art, which oscillates between creation and constraint—balancing the freedom of personal vision with the established rigors of a musical score.
The dialogue will explore the many facets of conducting, from the complex relationship between conductor and score to the interaction with the orchestra—where the conductor is not just a leader but a catalyst for collective expressiveness. Additionally, the conversation will address contemporary challenges facing this profession:
