Opera Europa conference brings lyric theaters’ managers to Bucharest in November

Bucharest National Opera (ONB) will host the Opera Europa autumn conference which will bring for the first time in the Capital City some of the most important managers of lyric theaters and similar festivals in Europe, on November 19 to 22.

The announcement that ONB was designated to be the host of the prestigious international event was made on May 8, at the General Assembly of Opera Europa members, held during the spring conference held at the Teatro Real in Madrid. Romania becomes thus the first country in Southeastern Europe that will host a meeting for professionals in the management of lyrical art.

The program of the upcoming conference in Bucharest will include performances such as “Falstaff”, directed by Graham Vick, and “Oedipe”, composed by George Enescu.

Opera Europa is the main international association dedicated to the activities of the professional opera companies and of the opera festivals in Europe and North America and currently includes over 155 member companies, including the State Opera in Vienna, Royal Opera House in London, Opéra National de Paris, the State Opera in Munchen, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Balsoi Theatre in Moscow and Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona.

ONB is a member of Opera Europa network since 2008.
