TIFF 2020 rescheduled due to coronavirus

Considering the current epidemic of coronavirus in Romania and the restrictions imposed for the people’s safety, the crew of the Transylvania International Film Festival (TIFF) has decided to reschedule the 2020 edition.

“We have worked to get TIFF ready until the last minute, we’ve hoped we’ll meet you in Cluj during May 29-June 7. But at this point it is clear this is not possible anymore. It has not been an easy decision, but we are optimist and we are already working to set alternative potential dates,” said TIFF manager, Tudor Giurgiu.

Registrations for such programmes as Transilvania Pitch Stop, Alex. Leo Șerban Scholarship, or the Local Competition remain valid, while the selected candidates will receive news about the new programme in due time.

Spectators who have already bought tickets and passes have two options: they can keep them or can ask for a refund.

Meanwhile, while #wearestayinghome, the TIFF Unlimited streaming platform has become the meeting place of the TIFF fans: every weekend, unlimited.tiff.ro is hosting #CaranTIFF premiere movies free of any charge. The programme contains over 100 films: Best of TIFF, Best of Cannes, comedies or documentaries. A selection of Romanian films can be watched from anywhere in the world without subscription.

At the same time, part of TIFF team has got involved in launching the initiative #UnSingurCluj, meant to focus and synchronise  efforts in Cluj county in the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic. You can support their actions at unsingurcluj.ro.
