The biggest film festival in Romania, Transilvania International Film Festival-TIFF toes the line on Friday night in Cluj-Napoca with the national premiere of “Wild Tales” movie. Arrived at its 14th edition, the festival comprises 223 productions from over 60 countries and is about to welcome around 850 Romanian and foreign guests.
The opening is due on Friday, May 29, starting 20:45 in Open Air Unirii Square on Cluj-Napoca, followed by the national premiere of “Wild Tales” Oscar-nominee film directed by Damián Szifron. The movie is produced by Pedro Almodóvar and will run in theaters as of June 12, distributed by Transilvania Film.
This edition of the festival brings along new projects such as “TIFF Campus” initiated on the occasion of Cluj-European Youth Capital 2015 campaign. “The Cine-pool” is another first within the festival, when cinema goers, wearing swimsuits, will be able to watch from the pool of the Belvedere Hotel’s Moving Club, the “Short Plays” film, a collage of 31 stories about the football fever, directed by as many directors, including Gaspar Noé, Carlos Reygadas, Vincent Gallo and Karim Aïnouz.
This year, the “Film depot” section, reactivated in 2014 following the “Save the cinema” campaign, will also run as a playground, fair and gas house.
Inside “TIFF Campus” the festival is moving amidst students in Hasdeu complex in the first week, bringing along open-air screenings, concerts and parties, with free access guaranteed.
TIFF will also relocate to Banffy Castle in Bon?ida on May 30 and 31, within “Weekend at the Castle” section, which rejoins workshops, games and shows for children, every day, from 12:00 to 19:00.
Compagnie des Quidams will perform here the whole version of their “FierS à Cheval” show. The event is due on May 30, starting 20:30. The show is followed by one of the most expected documentaries of the year: “Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck” directed by Brett Morgan, the first film about Nirvana’s leader made in cooperation with his family.
On Sunday, at 21:45, the French from Zenzile will accompany live the masterpiece “Berlin: the symphony of a great city” (1927).
