Former world and Olympic gymnastics champion Andreea Răducan has announced today she is resigning from the helm of the Romanian Gymnastics Federation over the failure of the national women and men gymnastics teams to qualify for the Olympic Games in Tokyo next year.
“The failure in qualifying for the Tokyo Olympic Games made me consider that a change is needed, maybe I am not the right person at the head of the Federation”, said Raducan.
She blamed the poor performance of the Romanian gymnastics in the past year also on “big egos”.
Andreea Răducan has endorsed the stance that coaches of the women gymnastic team, Nicolae Forminte and of men team, Marius Urzica should be replaced, reproaching them the qualification at Tokyo Olympics had been missed.
Former world and Olympic gymnastics champion Andreea Raducan was elected as President of the Romanian Gymnastics Federation by majority of votes in August 2017.
