Anti-terrorist specialized structures at Romania vs. Spain friendly match

Specialized anti-terrorist structures will be in place for maintaining public order during the friendly football match between Romania and Spain on Sunday, on Cluj Arena Stadium in Cluj-Napoca. Special checking measures will be taken.

The friendly match Romania – Spain will be played on Sunday, Cluj Arena, starting at 21.45h.

The special measures aim pyrotechnic checks with dogs for motorcars and bodily control. Umbrellas and bottles will be banned, and the recommendation is that fans come without baggage.

The Commander of the Gendarmerie Mobile Group Cluj-Napoca, Florinel Budişan, said on Friday in a press conference that before the game, exacting body control will be run in order to avoid introducing to the stadium prohibited objects and pyrotechnic means.

“Given the situation in Europe, in Brussels, we will take specific anti-terrorist measures, we will have anti-terrorist specialized structures at the match and will take decisions accordingly. We have considered these issues regarding the operative situation, we are ready to intervene in any situation,” said Budişan.

The Manager of Safety and Security Department with the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) Sorin Cojocaru, said in turn that he appeals to the fans to come two hours before the match to avoid crowding at the entrance gates.

He added that the Spanish team comes with special protection from their country, Spanish officials demanding surveillance on the route from the stadium to the hotel and to the airport.

The Commander of Cluj-Napoca Police, Marcel Bontidean said that the traffic will be restricted before the match in the Cluj Arena area, pyrotechnical check of the cars entering the parking lot of the stadium will be conducted, with the help of Canine Centre Guards from Sibiu which will bring six dogs specialized for such interventions.

Also, access to the stadium with umbrellas or bottles will be banned.

In total, the apparatus for public order during the match will be made up by about 200 gendarmes, 300 policemen and over 260 stewards.
