Romanian tennis players Monica Niculescu and Ana Bogdan were defeated on Tuesday, at the Australian Open in Melbourne.
Niculescu (29, 32nd WTA) was defeated by Russian player Ana Blinkova (18, 189th WTA) 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 in two hours and 15 minutes.
Ana Bogdan, for the first time competing on the main draw, was defeated by Yelena Vesnina (30, 18th WTA) 7-5, 6-2 in one hour and 22 minutes.
Niculescu and Bogdan will collect 10 WTA points and 50,000 Australian dollars.
Out of the six Romanian female tennis players, only Irina Begu and Sorana Carstea have qualified to the second round of Australian Open.
