The pair made up by Romanian tennis players Irina Begu/Andreea Mitu has won, on Sunday, the BRD Bucharest Open doubles trophy, after defeating in the final Danila Kovinic (Montenegro)/ Maryna Zanevska (Belgium) 6-3, 6-4.
It was Begu’s second final in a row, after winning the trophy last year, in pair with Raluca Olaru. For Andreea Mitu it was also the second final, after the one lost in 2015, in pair with Patricia Tig.
Out of the five editions of the BRD Bucharest Open, three were won by Romanian pairs: Elena Bogdan/Alexandra Cadantu in 2014, Irina Begu/Raluca Olaru in 2017 and Irina Begu/Andreea Mitu in 2018.
For winning the trophy, the pair Begu/Mitu will be awarded USD 12,300 and 280 WTA points.
On Saturday the Romanian pair defeated Jacqueline Cristian/Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-4, 3-6, 10-6 in the semi-final..
In the super tiebreak Begu and Mitu took the advantage up to 5-1, the opponents came close, 4-5, but finally the first pair won 10-6.
The singles title was won by 1st seeded Latvian tennis player, Anastasija Sevastova, who defeated in the final Petra Martic 7-6, 6-2.
