Romanian tennis player Simona Halep will be coached in 2016 by Darren Cahill. According to Virginia Ruzici, Halep’s manager, has sent a press release announcing that the 26 years old player will be coached by Darren Cahill, digi24.ro reports.
“Beginning with January 2016, the personal coach of Simona Halep will be Darren Cahill. The Australian coach will retain the role of tennis analyst for ESPN television network for the Grand Slam tournaments, without being prevented to train Simona full time ,” the release reads.
Darren Cahill has worked with players like Andy Murray and Fernando Verdasco. In the women’s circuit, he prepared another tennis player from Romania, Sorana Carstea, and had also guided Daniela Hantuchova and Ana Ivanovic, Digi Sport informs.
The Australian is categorized as an expensive coach and will be paid by Halep a salary between EUR 700,000 and EUR 1 million per season.
