David Popovici Wins 50m Freestyle Title with New Record

Romanian swimmer David Popovici (CS Dinamo) won the title in the 50-meter freestyle event on Wednesday, the first day of the National Swimming Championships in the 50-meter pool, at the Otopeni Swimming Sports Complex, with a new national record.

Popovici won with a time of 21 sec 83/100. CSA Steaua won three titles in the seniors, through Rebecca Aimee Diaconescu (800 m freestyle), Robert Andrei Badea (20 m medley) and in the 4×100 m freestyle combined relay (Vlad Ştefan Stancu, Robert Andrei Badea, Rebecca Aimee Diaconescu, Maysa Raţiu).

CS Dinamo won two titles, the other being won by Daria Măriuca Silişteanu, in the 100 m backstroke. CS Olimpia won with Irina Ana Preda (50 m freestyle) and Denis Laurean Popescu (100 m backstroke). .
