Davis Cup: Slovakia leads Romania 2-1

The Slovak doubles team made up of Andrej Martin/Igor Zelenay has defeated on Saturday the Romanian pair Horia Tecau/Florin Mergea 7-5, 6-3, 6-3 to give Slovakia the lead in the match being played in Constanta.

On Friday, Romanian tennis player Marius Copil defeated Norbert Gombos in four sets, 7-6 (5), 6-7 (6), 6-4, 7-6 (10). In the second match, Adrian Ungur (199th ATP) lost against Martin Klizan (ATP 38th) 6-4, 6-2, 6-0.

On Sunday the last two simple games will be played between Marius Copil – Martin Klizan and Adrian Ungur – Norbert Gombos.

The winner of the encounter between Romania and Slovakia will play the playoff for the Davis Cup World Group, while the defeated team will play in the first round of the Eurozone / African Group 1.
