DP World Romania, a global leader in logistics and supply chain solutions, in partnership with Bucharest Golf Club, is launching the DP World Golf Academy, a project aimed at positioning Romania as a key destination on the international golf map. Through strategic partnerships and investments in sports, DP World seeks to create a positive impact in the communities where it operates. Golf, a sport that embodies precision, strategy, and discipline—core values of the DP World group—now becomes a channel through which the company promotes inclusion and the development of local talent.
The DP World Golf Academy is a unique initiative that combines DP World’s global expertise, established through its pivotal role on the international golf stage via its partnership with the European Tour, with the professional vision of Bucharest Golf Club. This collaboration aims to bring golf closer to young people, communities, and players of all skill levels. Through this long-term partnership, DP World Romania seeks to contribute to the development of the local golf community through a series of dedicated initiatives. These include introductory programs for schools and communities, offering free lessons for beginners, as well as the Elite Golf Development program, designed to prepare talented young players for international competitions. Additionally, the Mobile Golf Academy initiative will bring golf closer to the public by organizing sessions in parks and other accessible spaces. All participants will benefit from state-of-the-art facilities equipped with cutting-edge technology, such as Trackman systems, which enhance training and equipment fitting processes.
“Through the DP World Golf Academy @BGC, we aim to continue our mission of putting Romania on the global golf map by providing access to a modern golf club, top-notch trainers, and educational programs for all categories. This initiative is not just about sports but also about promoting values such as discipline, respect, and collaboration, which golf instills in all its players. Furthermore, the association between golf and our mission feels natural: bringing people together, encouraging and supporting young talent, educating, and maintaining a strong connection with nature. We want to promote golf as a sport where the educational element holds great significance, just as it does for us,” stated Cosmin Cârstea, CEO of DP World Romania.
DP World sees golf as a unique opportunity to reflect its core values: precision, strategy, and excellence. This association with the sport aligns with the company’s global involvement in sponsoring renowned competitions such as the DP World Tour, formerly known as the European Tour.
“Bucharest Golf Club and DP World have joined forces to create a long-term initiative dedicated to developing golf in Romania. Bucharest Golf Club, inaugurated in 2022, is the first 18-hole golf course in the capital. DP World, a global leader in logistics and supply chain solutions, also maintains a strong presence in sports sponsorships and partnerships, with a special focus on golf through events like the DP World Tour (formerly the European Tour). The training facilities and academy at Bucharest Golf Club will be rebranded as the ‘DP World Golf Academy @ Bucharest Golf Club.’ This joint initiative will enhance the existing ‘Get into Golf’ program at the club, emphasizing the introduction of golf to new players, schools, and young people. With DP World’s support and influence, we aim to increase awareness of golf in Romania and make the sport more accessible to a broader audience,” added Alex Brett, owner of Bucharest Golf Club.
Starting January 2025, a dedicated area for the Academy will be established, and activities will begin to take shape. The partners also plan to develop an activity roadmap, including events and competitions designed to attract both local and international players.
Golf is one of the most played and appreciated sports globally, reflecting the scale and international impact of DP World’s operations. At the heart of DP World’s mission is a commitment to contributing to a better future. In the context of golf, this commitment translates into expanding access to the sport to new audiences and supporting the development of new generations of players, regardless of their background, abilities, or gender.
