The Romanian national team will face the Dutch team in the round of 16 of the European Football Championship – EURO 2024, hosted by Germany, a match that will take place on July 2, at the Football Arena in Munich, from 19:00. Romania won Group E of the competition, and the Netherlands ranked third in Group D. Following Wednesday’s results, among the teams ranked third in the groups, Hungary (3 points) and Croatia (2 points) missed the qualification.
At this European Football Championship, the Netherlands beat Poland 2-1, drew 0-0 with France and lost to Austria 2-3. For the Netherlands, winner of the European trophy in 1988, this is the 12th participation in the EURO. Also nicknamed “The Clockwork Orange”, the Netherlands is ranked 7th in the FIFA rankings.
The coach Edward Iordănescu posted a message on social media after Romania’s qualification to the last eight at Euro 2024. “Rejoice and be proud that you are Romanian!”, the coach wrote, accompanying the message with a group photo in which the tricolors appear rejoicing after the draw with Slovakia and qualifying for the last 16.
