Europa League: FCSB, CFR Cluj through to play-off. Universitatea Craiova – out

Romanian Vice-champions DCSB have qualified to the Europa League play-off Thursday evening, after defeating Hajduk Split 2-1 on National Arena in Bucharest. In the first round the score was 0-0.

The victory was achieved in extra-time, by the goal scored by Harlem Gnohere in 90+3 minute.

When everything seemed lost, the victory was obtained in the stoppage time, with the header by Gnohere.

“It seems I am a lucky man, I was as player, I am as coach. I am glad we have qualified. There are moments such as this one during the career as coach. We have qualified and this means we did well. I am always positive. If we succeed reaching the group level and then the European spring, then I could say we are performing. For the time being this is not an achievement. It’s only a positive step in my CV as coach,” FCSB coach Nicolae Dica said after the match.

In the play-off, FCSB will play against Rapid Vienna.

Romanian champions CFR Cluj have also qualified to the play-off, after defeating Alashkert (Armenia) 5-0 (7-0 on aggregate) Thursday evening. In the play-off CFR will face Dudelange (Luxembourg) a team which defeated Legia Warsaw (4-3 in aggregate).

However, Universitatea Craiova managed only a draw 1-1 against RB Leipzig, following the result of 1-3 in the first round played away, and leaves the competition.
