Romanian Vice-champions DCSB have qualified to the Europa League play-off Thursday evening, after defeating Hajduk Split 2-1 on National Arena in Bucharest. In the first round the score was 0-0.
The victory was achieved in extra-time, by the goal scored by Harlem Gnohere in 90+3 minute.
FCSB scored first, also Gnohere, in the 55th min, penalty kick. The guests levelled the score in the 82nd minute, goal by Ahmed Said.
When everything seemed lost, the victory was obtained in the stoppage time, with the header by Gnohere.
“It seems I am a lucky man, I was as player, I am as coach. I am glad we have qualified. There are moments such as this one during the career as coach. We have qualified and this means we did well. I am always positive. If we succeed reaching the group level and then the European spring, then I could say we are performing. For the time being this is not an achievement. It’s only a positive step in my CV as coach,” FCSB coach Nicolae Dica said after the match.
In the play-off, FCSB will play against Rapid Vienna.
Romanian champions CFR Cluj have also qualified to the play-off, after defeating Alashkert (Armenia) 5-0 (7-0 on aggregate) Thursday evening. In the play-off CFR will face Dudelange (Luxembourg) a team which defeated Legia Warsaw (4-3 in aggregate).
However, Universitatea Craiova managed only a draw 1-1 against RB Leipzig, following the result of 1-3 in the first round played away, and leaves the competition. The German team led 1-0 after the goal scored by Marcel Sabitzer in the 39th minute and levelled the score in the 85th minute, goal scored by Petre Baicu.
