The European gymnastics forum announced on Friday, after a meeting of the Executive Committee, that it grants a vote of confidence for Romania to organize the European Championship in 2017 and has considered a backup option, an official one, taking into consideration Cluj-Napoca with a hall of 7,200 seats.
The Romanian Gymnastics Federation said Bucharest is to be the host of the competition, but the construction of the new 12,000-seat Polivalenta Sport Hall has not started yet, so the European forum accepted as possible official host the city of Cluj-Napoca, where there is sport hall with 7,200 seats.
A final decision in this case would be taken by year-end.
