The confrontation between the tennis teams of Romania and Germany, at the Polyvalent Hall of Cluj Napoca, in the match for remaining in Fed Cup World Group, is at a draw after the first day.
Romanian tennis player Simona Halep (6th WTA) has defeated Andreea Petkovici (30th WTA) 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-4 on Saturday to equalise the score between Romania and Germany. In the first match of the confrontation Irina Camelia Begu (35th WTA) lost to Angelique Kerber (3rd WTA) 2-6, 3-6.
Right after the match, Halep said she feels some pain after falling down in the first set, but she would certainly play on Sunday and win.
On Sunday at 13:00h: Halep vs. Kerber, followed by the last round of singles, Begu vs. Petkovic.
In the doubles match Alexandra Dulgheru/Monica Niculescu will play against Annika Beck/Julia Goerges.
In the Fed Cup rankings Germany ranks 4th and Romania is 9th.
