As the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) head Razvan Burleanu admitted he is negotiating with a German coach to take over the national team, speculations have surfaced, pointing to several names.
The name of the coach to replace Anghel Iordanescu will be revealed on Thursday, June 7, following a meeting of the FRF Standing Bureau, digisport.ro reports.
The names considered are Bernd Schuster, Guss Hiddink and Armin Veh, the same source informs.
It seems Schuster is the one closest to an agreement with FRF. Schuster coached Real Madrid, Beșiktaș, Malaga and Shakhtar Donetsk, among others.
Unlike Guss Hiddink, Schuster seems to have smaller financial demands. He was paid EUR 800,000 per year at Malaga.
The source reads that the FRF officials have proposed the German a contract for two years, until the 2018 World Cup in Russia, with EUR 300,000 per year and a bonus of EUR 1,000,000 for qualifying the team to the final tournament.
