The President of the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) Răzvan Burleanu said on Monday in a press conference that he will announce the new coach of the national team until the end of EURO 2016 (July 10).
“The name of the new coach will be announced by the end of EURO 2016. I want to thank Anghel Iordanescu, who took over the team and led us to this EURO,” Răzvan Burleanu said.
Burleanu said: “We are open to any formulas, a foreign coach or a Romanian coach. I talked to Cosmin Olăroiu, but he is still under contract with the club (Al Ahli Dubai – our note)”.
Referring to the name of the future head coach, Burleanu announced the criteria: “to have 10 years of experience, to have won trophies and to have attitude. The future qualification will not be easy, with Poland and Denmark in our group.”
According to digisport.ro, the former official of Rapid Bucharest and Steaua Bucharest, Renzo Rossi, commented on the issue, saying that the salary of EUR 500,000 is attractive for some big names in international football.
“The money is good. There are Prandelli, Montalla, Di Canio free of contract and one name in England. I am sure the issue can be discussed. It is tempting; Romania’s national team has a certain evaluation, after all the championship is considered the 15th in the world. It’s not like going to Africa and coaching no names,” Renzo Rossi said.
Vincenzo Montella (42) coached the AS Roma’s youth team, AS Roma’s first team (as interim coach), Catania, Fiorentina and Sampdoria. He is contract free since 2015.
Cesare Prandelli (58) coached Atalanta, Lecce, Verona, Venezia, parma, AS Roma, Italy’s national team and Galatasaray. He is contract free since 2014.
