Ilie Nastase says will cooperate with ITF during investigation

Romania’s Fed Cup team captain, former tennis legend Ilie Nastase, has written on Thursday on his Facebook page he would fully cooperate with the International Tennis Federation (ITF) during the investigation concerning him.

I respect the procedures taking place based on the ITF Welfare Policy and I am offering my full cooperation to solve this case, he wrote, adding that he has already sent an answer to the official accusations for the Fed Cup match between Romania and the UK in April 2017, Nastase said, ziare.com informs.

He also added that he has requested to be heard by the resolution panel in this case in order to present his viewpoint on the events.

He reminds that he has apologized and sent letter of apologize to those involved and disturbed by his statements.

I hope these clarifications would stop the speculation or further misunderstanding about the ITF investigation. I would prefer not to make any further comments until the formal proceedings have been completed. I expect that media professionals also to avoid developing this topic until the final decision is reached, Ilie Nastase concluded his post.

Ilie Nastase (70 years old), non-player captain of Romania’s Fed Cup team, was suspended by the ITF for insulting player Johanna Konta and Anne Keothavong, captain of the British team, as well as a referee and a journalist  during the match in Mamaia on April 22.
