Ion Tiriac says will resign from Tennis Federation after six months, if elected

Former tennis player, businessman Ion Tiriac says he wishes not to win the elections for Romanian Tennis Federation (FRT) top position, so that he has more time for his businesses.

“I don’t need to be called Mr. President. I have enough notoriety, I don’t need more of it. But I believe I have to try to build this engine from small parts and make it work. If they elect me, I almost wish they don’t, because I would not have enough time for my businesses, it will be my duty to do it,” Ion Tiriac said for ‘Gazeta Sporturilor’.

Tiriac said he would resign after 6 months and will let someone else take over the FRT presidency.

“I’ll go in front of these people to tell them what I can do in six months. Four vice-presidents will be elected to do the job. To push the carriage further on. The one who is absent, the next day is out. I have many things to do, I can’t stay more than that. It’s impossible. Nevertheless, I hope that in six months I achieve the same things as I did with the Olympic Committee until the Olympic Games in Sydney,” Tiriac said.

Former tennis player Ion Ţiriac applied for the FRT presidency on June 4.

For the position of president 6 applications have been filed: Ion Ţiriac, Ion Ţupa, Liviu Ursuleanu, Marius Vecerdea, Răzvan Itu, Ioan Cozma, telekomsport.ro informs.
