Madrid Open: Halep, Cirstea – through to the second round, Buzarnescu defeated by Sharapova

katerina Makarova (Russia, 29, 32^nd WTA) 6-1, 6-0 in 51 minutes.

Also on Sunday, Sorana Cirstea, 28, 35^th WTA (photo 2), defeated Katerina Siniakova (Czech Republic) 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.

On the other hand, Mihaela Buzarnescu, 37^th WTA, was defeated by Maria Sharapova (53^rd WTA) 6-4, 6-1. In the next round, Sharapova will face another Romanian player, Irina Begu, who defeated Jelena Ostapenko in the first round.

In the men’s competition, Marius Copil (86^th ATP) has qualified to the main table, after defeating Jaume Munar (Spain) 7-6 (5), 6-7 (2), 6-4 in the last round of qualifications.
