Romanian tennis player Irina Begu has qualified on Monday for the third round of the Madrid Open, as her opponent Andreea Petkovici has withdrawn from the competition due to health problems. Petkovici announced one hour before the match with Begu she was facing gastro-intestinal problems.
Irina Begu will play in the third round against the winner between Barbora Strycova and Varva Lepchenko, a match to be played on Tuesday.
Following the qualification, Irina Begu received 120 WTA points and a cheque for EUR 52,090, ziare.com informs.
