Romanian tennis player Simona Halep will play the first match at Miami Open against 18-year old Russian. Seeded 5th, Halep will meet in the second round Daria Kasatkina, 36th WTA. Sorana Carstea and Alexandra Dulgheru have already been eliminated.
At Miami, Halep will play also in the doubles event, where she will pair with Daniela Hantuchova, Slovakia. The first match is against Sara Errani (Italy)/Carla Suarez Navarro (Spain).
Last year, Halep reached the semi-finals in Miami, she was defeated by Serena Williams.
Alexandra Dulgheru left the competition in the first round. She won the first set in a tiebreak against Lesia Tsurenko, but then lost the next two sets 3-6, 3-6.
Sorana Carstea could not go through the final round of qualifications: she was defeated by Francesca Schiavone 6-2, 6-4.
