Romanian tennis player Monica Niculescu (61st WTA) was defeated on Monday in the Nottingham tournament final by Ana Konjuh (Croatia -87th WTA) 6-1, 4-6, 2-6.
Monica Niculescu defeated in the semi-finals Agnieszka Radwanska, the main favourite, 5-7, 6 -4, 6-0.
In the quarter-finals Niculescu defeated Johanna Konta (Britain) 6-2, 2-6, 6-2.
This is Niculescu’s best performance this year, after so far failed to pass the second round in any of the tournaments attended, except for ITF competition last week in Marseille (prize money USD 100,000) won by her.
