Nottingham Open: Mihaela Buzărnescu through to quarter-finals

Mihaela Buzărnescu, 30th WTA, has qualified on Wednesday to the Nottingham Open quarter-finals, after defeating Irina Falconi (US, 152nd WTA).

Buzarnescu, the 5th seeded, has some problems in the third set, after leading by 5-0 she lost 3 games in a row and failed to conclude the match three times after having match balls. However, she won the third set 6-3 and the match in two hours and six minutes.

In the next round, Buzarnescu will face 3rd seeded Naomi Osaka (Japan, 18th WTA) or Denisa Alertova (Czech Republic, 101st WTA).

For the qualification to the quarter-finals, the Romanian tennis player will get prize money worth USD 6,175 and 60 WTA points.

Mihaela Buzarnescu will compete also in the doubles event in pair with Heather Watson, facing in the first round the 1st seeded pair Lyudmyla Kicenok/Alla Kudriavtseva (Ukraine/Russia).
