Răzvan Burleanu, re-elected President of the Romanian Football Federation

Răzvan Burleanu (photo 1) has been re-elected on Wednesday as President of the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) by 168 votes ‘for’ against 78 votes for the main counter-candidate Ionut Lupescu.

Razvan Burleanu, 33, has savoured the victory by saying he had emotions.

“I thank all opponents for their participation, I thank my team, you have been firm, righteous. I am proud to be part of this team, of this family. Finally, I admit, although it hasn’t been easy, I’ve destroyed them,” Burleanu said.

Former international footballer and UEFA official, Ionut Lupescu (photo 2), said in turn: “First of all, I want to thank all those who have voted for me, but also those who had a different option. I believe it was my duty to return home and try to rebuild football, to develop it. I hope that in the coming years you will have the development you expect and have the performances you grieve for.”

Marcel Puscas received only 8 votes.

Ballot results:

Răzvan Burleanu – 168 votes;

Ionuţ Lupescu – 78;

Marcel Puşcaş – 8;

Ilie Drăgan – 0.
