Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and Serbia could bid to organize the football World Cup 2030, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has announced in Varna, Bulgaria, on Friday, on the occasion of the Romania-Bulgaria-Greece-Serbia meeting.
“I think Mr. Tsipras’ proposal to nominate the four countries to bid together for the World Cup, the 4 countries – Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and Serbia – together for the World Cup in 2030. And why not, to other sports initiatives,” Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov said in Varna, ziare.com reports, quoting Reuters.
Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said that consultations will be launched between the four countries on the possibility of becoming candidates for a major sports event over the next 10 years.
The statements were made after the meeting in Varna, where the Bulgaria-Romania-Greece-Serbia-Israel summit took place.
Romania will host four matches of the European Football Championship 2020.
