Romania will be represented by 26 athletes at the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang

Romania will be represented by 26 athletes at the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, instead of 25 athletes, as originally announced, the Romanian Olympic and Sporting Committee (COSR) has informed on Friday.

Following the completion of the qualifying process and of the reallocation of seats by the international sports federations, the Romanian Olympic team that will take part in the Olympic Games in PyeongChang next month has undergone some changes.

The number of Romanian athletes has increased from 25 to 26 by reducing the participation by one athlete and qualifying two others.

Thus, Maria Marinela Mazilu joins the skeleton lot, and Alexandra Ianculescu will compete in speed skating in the 500 m event. On the other hand, skier Ioan Valeriu Achiriloaie, following the same process of the international specialized federation, will not participate to the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics.

The 26 athletes of the Olympic team will be accompanied by 24 coaches.

The Winter Olympics 2018 will be held in South Korea, at PyeongChang, during February 9-25.
