Romanian Football Federation (FRF) Technical Director, Mihai Stoichita, has said the national team coach is free to try everything he wants in the coming period, however good results are expected as of next autumn, when the UEFA Nations Cup starts.
“We told Contra he can do whatever he wants, but we need results next autumn. Cosmin Contra is still looking for players and he knows what to do. There are three chapters: exits, entries, young players. That’s all,” Stoichita said for Digi Sport.
He added that the qualification to the European Championship is compulsory. “There is no football without performance! Friendly matches could give us the direction for the national team. We know where we are, we conduct analyses, we must make painful but wise decisions. In the Nations Cup we won’t face teams such the Netherlands,” Stoichita further said.
Cosmin Contra has taken over the national team as coach after the dismissal of Christoph Daum and registered positive results, except for the latest match against the Netherlands 0-3.
