Romanian tennis player Victor Hanescu, competing these days in France, collapsed during a training session, antena3.ro informs. The tennis player was taken to hospital. The information was confirmed for Antena 3 by George Cosac, president of the Romanian Tennis Federation.
Hanescu lost consciousness and fell, hitting his chin. Following the incident, he bled heavily. The athlete will be subjected to thorough investigation to establish the cause of the incident.
“I talked to him. He’ll return to the country. It is true, he collapsed during a training session on the background of tiredness,” said George Cosac for Antena 3.
According to the ATP official website, the ATP 186th fainted during a training session of the Rennes Challenger tournament, with prizes worth EUR 85,000, due to a general weakness.
In the first round of the tournament in Rennes, Victor Hanescu should have played against Marius Copil. Following Hanescu’s abandonment, Copil will face Frenchman Sebastien Boltz qualified as lucky loser.
