Simona Halep climbs to second position in WTA rankings

Romanian tennis player Simona halep has climbed from fourth to second position in the WTA rankings released on Monday, following the Roland Garros final. Had she won the tournament in Paris, she would have climbed to the first position.

First ranks Angelique Kerber with 7.035 points and third is Karolina Pliskova, 160 points behind Halep.

Caroline Wosniaki has climbed to 7^th position, whereas the Roland Garros winner, Jelena Ostapenko went up 35 positions to 12^th.

Other women tennis players rank as follows: Monica Niculescu, up 4 places to 50^th WTA, Sorana Cirstea up 5 positions to 59^th WTA, Irina Begu down 18 places to 64^th.

In the doubles, Monica Niculescu is 24^th, Raluca Olaru is 43^rd, Irina Begu is 70^th, Simona Halep is 76^th.

In the Race to Singapore, Simona Halep is first, followed by Karolina Pliskova, Elina Svitolina and Jelena Ostapenko.
