Table tennis: Romania fails to reach World Championship semi-finals

Romania women’s table tennis team failed to qualify to the semi-finals of the World Table Tennis Championship in Halmstad (Sweden), after being defeated by Hong Kong 3-0 on Thursday in the quarterfinals.

Elizabeth Samara was defeated in the first match by Lee Ho Ching 3-1, Bernadette Szocs (photo) was defeated by Doo Hoi Kem 3-2, and Soo W. Minnie defeated Daniela Monteiro Dodean 3-0.

Romania previously managed to win against the valuable teams of Taiwan (3-0) and North Korea (3-1) and thus takes the WC 5th position.

The semi-finals are: China vs. Hong Kong and Korea (unified team) vs. Japan.
