The women’s table tennis team of Romania, made up by Elizabeta Samara (photo), Daniela Dodean Monteiro and Bernadette Szocs, has qualified to the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, the National Table Tennis Federation has announced, following the notification received from the global forum (ITTF).
Romania will participate in Rio with the maximum number of athletes, two in the singles event, Eliza Samara and Daniela Dodean Monteiro, while the male competition Romania will be represented by Ovidiu Ionescu and Adrian Crisan.
Romania’s women’s table tennis team won the silver medals at last year’s European Championship, while Eliza Samara won the continental title in the singles event.
