Tennis: Marius Copil defeated by Roger Federer in Basel final, but climbs 33 positions in ATP rankings

Romanian tennis player, Marius Copil, was defeated on Sunday by Roger Federer, 3^rd ATP, in the final of Basel tournament 7-6 (7/5), 6-4.

Copil, 28, 93^rd ATP, had a remarkable evolution in Basel, coming from the qualifying rounds, defeating six tennis player much better positioned in the ATP rankings, among them Marin Cilic and Alexander Zverev.

Federer thus won the Basel tournament for the ninth time and it is the 99^th title won in his career.

For Marius Copil it was the second ATP final this year, after the one in Sofia, when he was defeated in the final by Mirza Basic (Bosnia-Herzegovina).

Copil will collect 320 ATP points and EUR 209,715 and will climb 33 positions in the ATP rankings, up to the 60^th with 888 points., the best position ever.
