Tennis: Simona Halep tops the WTA rankings for the 50th week

Romanian tennis player, Simona Halep, has entered the 50th week as WTA rankings leader, having 960 points ahead the second position, Caroline Wozniacki. Third ranks Angelique Kerber.

Next week, Halep will enter the top 10 of the tennis players with most weeks as WTA rankings leaders. As of October 22, Halep will have the same number of weeks (51) as Victoria Azarenka, currently 10th. According to WTA, Halep’s current lead will keep her on the top of the rankings to reach 60 weeks. Steffi Graf is first in the top, with 337 weeks.

Other Romanian women tennis players in WTA top 100: Mihaela Buzarnescu – 25th WTA, Irina Begu – 53rd, Ana Bogdan – 73rd, Monica Niculescu – 82nd and Sorana Cirstea – 86th.
