Romanian weightlifter Nicolae Onica has won the bronze medal on Wednesday at the 96 kg category in total, at the World Championships in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
Onica lifted 391 kg overall and finished behind Sohrab Moradi (Iran) – 416 kg and Tao Tian (China) – 407 kg.
In the snatch event he finished on the 5th position with 175 kg. In the clean and jerk event he lifted 216 kg, being ranked the 4th.
Romania took part to the World Championships in Turkmenistan with four athletes and has a balance sheet of three medals: Loredana Toma – silver (snatch, 74 kg category) and Cristina Iovu (clean and jerk – 55 kg category) plus the above mentioned medal won by Nicolae Onica.
