Romania’s football national team was defeated Friday evening by Poland 0-3 on National Arena in Bucharest, in a match counting for |Group E of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
The goals were scored by Kamil Grosicki (11th min) and Robert Lewandowski (83rd minute, 90+1min. – penalty).
Incidents took place in the second half as a petard fell near Poland’s striker Robert Lewandowski, who needed medical treatment for four minutes. The match was interrupted for more than six minutes.
Romania’s next match is against Denmark on March 27, 2017 without attendance following the incidents on Friday.

Christoph Daum: We faced a better team
Romania’s coach Christoph Daum said after the match that: “we faced a better team. We haven’t succeeded in winning the individual duels, we tried to put on pressure at the beginning of the second half but nevertheless we had no scoring opportunities. It is a defeat we did not expect and we must learn out lesson.”
Adam Nawalka: We were unstoppable
Poland’s coach said after the match that Romania has played strongly but his team was unstoppable. “We managed to make out game and to position well. Today our play went very well and we are thrilled. There were tough tackles but this is the way such matches are played.”
Polish supporters taken by Police after brawls downtown Bucharest
Six Polish supporters were taken on Friday to the 14 Section Bucharest Police following incidents in the old town before the match, downtown Bucharest, Gendarmerie spokesman Georgian Enache informs.
He mentioned the incidents took place in a pub; the gendarmes intervened to calm down the spirits. According to Enache, no Romanian supporters have been involved in the brawl.
One person from the Poland supporters was slightly injured. Enache said the person will receive medical care if needed.
