Romanian tennis player Simona Halep, 2nd WTA, will play in the Red Group at the WTA Finals in Singapore. Halep will play against Maria Sharapova (Russia), Agnieszka Radwanska (Poland) and Flavia Pennetta (Italy), according to the draw on Friday.
The White Group includes Garbine Muguruza (Spain), Petra Kvitova (Czech Republic), Angelique Kerber (Germany) and Lucie Safarova (Czech Republic).
With Carla Suárez Navarro losing her quarterfinal at the Kremlin Cup on Thursday, Lucie Safarova has secured the eighth and final spot in the elite eight at the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global, which kicks off at the Singapore Sports Hub in just a few days. Suárez Navarro needed to reach the final in Moscow to overtake Safarova for the eighth spot, but she lost in straight sets to Russian WTA Rising Star Daria Kasatkina, meaning Safarova is confirmed, wtatennis.com informs.
