The head of the National Integrity Agency (ANI), Horia Georgescu was detained on Monday by the anti-corruption prosecutors for abuse of office in a file related to retrocessions of some overrated buildings. He was heard for about six hours at the National Anti-corruption Directorate and he was taken out handcuffed to be placed in the Bucharest Police arrest center.
While entering DNA this morning, the ANI head did not make any statements. According to the sources, he was summoned by DNA is relation to an ANRP referral regarding the Bica I file. Horia Georgescu was a member the Central Compensation Committee until 2010.
Allegedly the damage in this file amounts to EUR 75 million.
