Car registrations of 175,317 units in H1, up by 19.2 pc

Car registrations in Romania increased by 19.2% during January-June 2016, up to 175,317 units, from 147,139 units reported in H1 2015, according to data released by the National Statistics Institute (INS) on Friday.

According to statistics, road vehicles for passenger transport recorded an increase in new registrations of 4.9% to 180,275 units.

The DRPCIV statistics reveal that the national fleet in Romania totalled at the end of 2015, about 6.6 million units, up 5.27% against the previous year of 6.27 million units.

In Bucharest 1.19 million vehicles were registered late last year, of which 956,664 units were registered as cars.

Out of the total of 5.15 million passenger cars registered in Romania, 302,054 units are 0-2 years old, by 52.7% more as compared to the data published at the end of 2014 when 197,741 units were recorded. In addition, overall, 3.48 million Romanians preferred diesel cars and 2.76 million cars on gasoline.
