Former Interior Minister Cristian David was placed under remand by the anti-corruption prosecutors on Wednesday. The former minister is charged with EUR 500,000 bribery that he allegedly received to intercede with the former Buzau prefect in the case of a 15-hectares land in 2007.
According to DNA prosecutors, quoted by Mediafax, they ordered the initiation of criminal proceedings against David for bribery on January 19.
According to anti-corruption prosecutors, Cristian David has said after receiving the EUR 500,000 bribe that “he would have preferred to receive the money in RON (Romanian currency)”.
