Former Interior Minister Cristian David was placed under remand by the anti-corruption prosecutors on Wednesday. The former minister is charged with EUR 500,000 bribery that he allegedly received to intercede with the former Buzau prefect in the case of a 15-hectares land in 2007.
Cristian David had been brought by warrant to the National Anti-corruption Department (DNA) previously in the morning.
According to DNA prosecutors, quoted by Mediafax, they ordered the initiation of criminal proceedings against David for bribery on January 19.
According to anti-corruption prosecutors, Cristian David has said after receiving the EUR 500,000 bribe that “he would have preferred to receive the money in RON (Romanian currency)”.
