The prices for air transport, citrus, tobacco and fresh fruits increased most in June compared to May, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS), a press release informs.
Thus, air transport increased by 3.92 percent, citrus and southern fruits – by 3.51 percent, tobacco – by 1.7 percent, and fresh fruits by – 1.55 percent. On the other hand, the biggest drops in prices were recorded for potatoes, 7.83 percent, for other vegetables and canned food, 5.85 percent, and for fuel, by 1.13 percent.
Overall food goods, the prices dropped by 0.18 percent compared to the previous month, while non-food goods went up by 0.07 percent.
According to INS data, consumer prices were up 0.9 percent in June 2017 compared to June 2016, over the forecast of the National Bank of Romania (BNR), of 0.6 percent..
“The average rate of consumer prices based on the CPI over the last 12 months (July 2016 – June 2017) as compared to the previous 12 months (July 2015 – June 2016) was 0.1 percent. The average rate based on the HICP was 0.2 percent,” the release reads.
