Minister Stroe to cut number of employees with the Transport Ministry – ‘many are doing nothing’

Transport Minister Felix Stroe has announced on Tuesday, during the works of the parliamentary committee for transport and infrastructure, that he will cut the number of employees with the Transport Ministry from 438 to 300, because “many of them are doing nothing”.

Referring to Tarom air carrier restructuring, he said restructuring would be conducted in the ministry as well.

“The restructuring will be done firmly, including in the central structures. I’ve analysed the situation with the secretary general and, out of the 438 positions will remain only 300, very quickly, because many of the employees are doing nothing at the Transport Ministry,” Stroe said, capital.ro informs.

The highest net wage in the ministry is RON 5,300 per month – for the State Secretaries. An adviser to the minister earns RON 2,300 and chauffeurs and maids RON 1,400.

Minister Stroe added that the laid off employees will be relocated to institutions subordinated to the ministry.
