The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has appointed South-Korean Jaewoo Lee as head of the IMF mission for Romania and Bulgaria and is to replace, as of December 7, Reza Baqir.
Alejandro Hajdenberg, the IMF representative for Romania and Bulgaria, said he is thrilled to announce that Jaewoo Lee has been appointed as head of the IMF mission for the two countries.
Previously, Jaewoo Lee was head of the IMF mission for Sri Lanka, was Senior Economist in the Research Department, Economist in the Asia-Pacific Department, and Assistant Professor in the University of California at Irvine. Educated in MIT (Ph.D. 1992) and Seoul National University (B.A. 1985). His researches were published by several magazines, including American Economic Review and Review of Economics and Statistics.
Reza Baqir was appointed as head of the IMF mission for Romania in January 2016, replacing Andrea Schaechter.
