Timken opens new ball-bearings plant near Ploiesti. US Ambassador Hans Klemm attends inauguration

Timken, the world leader in the cone roller bearing market, organized on Tuesday the opening ceremony and official visits of its new production facility near Ploiesti. This company’s second plant in Romania responds to the global demand for conical roller ball bearings with diameters of up to 300 mm. The 15,000 square meters production unit is the result of an investment of nearly USD 60 million in the latest technology and will begin operations with an initial number of 120 employees, gazetaph.ro reports.

Andreas Roellgen, Timken Vice-President for Europe, Asia and Africa, and Bogdan Stanciu, Prahova plant manager welcomed the guests, customers and government officials as well as US Ambassador Hans Klemm.

US Ambassador to Bucharest Hans Klemm said at the inauguration ceremony of the new plant that this is another confirmation of the strategic partnership between the United States and Romania, a partnership strengthened on the occasion of the visit paid by President Klaus Iohannis to the US, welcomed at the White House by US President Donald Trump. Ambassador Klemm said the United States is at the forefront of direct investment in Romania.
