Women in Romania earn 8 pc lower wages than men

The biggest differences in earnings between men and women are noticed in the pay of administrative activities, where women earn 27% higher wages than men and in the air transport where men earn 41% more.

Women earn, on average, a net monthly salary of RON 1,509 per month, 8% less than men, shows a ZF analysis based on data from the National Statistics Institute (INS).

While in other countries wage differences between men and women reach 30%, in Romania differences in wages obtained by women compared to their male colleagues are not a major concern as women’s access to management positions was easier, HR specialists say. However, only 8 of the top 100 companies in Romania are run by women.
