Welcome Center, green highway, weekend city tours and new look for Parliament Palace green area to promote the Romanian Capital as travel destination.
Bucharest City Hall will budget RON 500,000 each month to test some projects to promote the Capital as travel destination. According to a resolution adopted on Thursday by the Bucharest General Council, the projects include a Welcome Center, a green highway, a weekend city tour and open gates at the Parliament Palace.
The green highway is designed to link the main Bucharest parks and the Welcome Center will be located at the entrances in Bucharest and at the airport.
“Bucharest Weekend” is meant to revive Calea Victoriei sight but also to create a bridge-like touristic area linking Amzei-Romana district to the historical Center of the city.
“Open gates at the Parliament Palace” is due to make the most of this huge edifice built up during Ceausescu regime. The green area in front of the building will be set up, a communism museum and shop selling souvenirs from the communist time will be opened inside the building.
The money will go to the Association for Promoting and Developing Tourism in Bucharest- Bucharest Convention & Visitors Bureau. “For the beginning we shall work on the Bucharest’s image online. We need a touristic website at the sharp end as the current website is not so up-to-date. Then we shall prepare the Tourism Fair in March, then the Airline Routes Fair. As far as the tourism infrastructure is concerned, we have to proceed with the contests for the Visitor Welcome Centers and the Communism Museum inside the Parliament Palace,” said Lauren?iu Bude, member of the Association board.
