After entering Guiness Book in 2013, the Caraiman Cross and its surroundings are facing now a brand-new makeover. Local authorities, aided by the Norwegian Government, are expected to invest EUR 2 M in this fresh look, based on an alight heliport, a hanging platform over the precipices , but also a Royal House’s Museum.
The tallest Cross in the world
The tallest Cross in the world have been erected between 1926-1928, in the memory of the soldiers dead in WWI, with King Ferdinand and Queen Mary donating the money for the impressive monument.
It looks like a daring project of combining nature with hi-tech. For instance, tourists will enjoy the view standing on a metallic-structured glass hanging platform, but without falling short of strong wi-fi connection.
The room behind the monument is meant to be a show place as well: a two-level virtual museum with digital boards will be set up inside, allowing visitors to find information about the Romanian Royal Family and about WWI.
