A new mountain resort is ready to come into its own in Romania, also ready to display a brand new ski slope.
Located in a picturesque mountain scenery, packed with plenty of trees and water springs, the new touristic site is actually an older project, finally enforced after 30 years of promises and talks.
Luna Șes resort project in Oaș Land, Satu Mare County (northwestern Romania) have been in sight since the 1980s, but it is only this year that it came closer to certainty. The local authorities pledge that the project is almost ready and the ski slope is expected to become functional starting next winter.
Luna Șes project lies on over 260 hectares and comes after a RON 60 million investment. According to Negrești Oaș mayor, Aurelia Fedorca, the location has been connected to electricity and there is a 6-km road concluded. She believes that the project could be the centre of the entire tourism in Oaș Land.
At present, the pensions in the area provide a 100-seat accommodation, but there are more ongoing real estate investments, including a Spa Center, encompassing a luxury hotel with conference halls and spa treatment bases.
On long term, Luna Șes will develop more touristic facilities, such as a golf course, an equitation centre, a motocross course and an autocross circuit, as well as a camping hosting 120 accommodation seats.
The area has plenty of mountain tracks starting from Negrești Oaș town up to Pietroasa Peak, located at an altitude of 1,201 metres.
The Oaș Land is one of Romania’s few ethno-folkloric areas that have preserved many customs, folk costumes and folklore songs unaltered. Also famous for its small blue houses, dotted about the glades, for the little wooden churches and the unique beauty of the Oaș Sphinx, or for Certeze commune, dubbed as the richest one in Romania, the land is ready to unveil further mysterious places and facts.
